Redistricting is the process of redrawing the boundaries of districts that elect representatives who serve specific geographic areas. This process occurs every ten years following the decennial census and should be completed in years that end in one. Learn more about redistricting here.
As 2021 comes to a close, the Richmond City Council is poised to consider an expedited paper this Monday to establish the process and criteria for redistricting in the city, with little to no public input prior to that vote.
This morning, I sent the following letter to the members of Council requesting that they recognize our concerns and consider establishing a more transparent process and criteria for redistricting in the city.
